Individual study program

Almost all courses of the first two years are mandatory, with a single exception in the second semester of the second year. On the other hand, third year students are required to submit an individual study program.

Second year students

In the second semester of the second year, students are required to choose one course among the following:

  • Axiomatic Method and Set Theory
  • Computational Laboratory
  • Discrete Optimization

Every year, near the end of the first semester, there is a presentation of these three courses to help students make their decision.

Third year students

Third year students are required to submit an individual study program specifying the courses they want to attend. Every year, in mid-September, there is a presentation of the courses of the third year to help students make their choices.

This pdf file [in Italian] describes three standard study programs, focused respectively on theory, applications, and didactics of Mathematics. Individual study programs deviating from those proposed in the above document may be accepted after being examined by a committee ("Commissione Didattica").

Individual study programs should be submitted online via Uniweb within specific time windows (usually in November-December and April-May). Notifications of approval are sent to students via Uniweb. Outside these time windows, changes are accepted only in special cases (e.g., graduation applications); in this case, changes should be made on the printed version of the study program and handed to prof. Maurizio Cailotto.
